The first few weeks predominantly involved removing vast amounts of overgrown vegetation from in and around the glasshouses. This created clear paths for machinery to gain access around the site.
Now, Wessex Demolition and Salvage Ltd have taken down seven glass houses. Every piece of glass has been removed by hand, minimising the amount of broken glass entering the ground and reducing the amount of ‘scraping’ required at the end. The metal frames are being cut into pieces by machinery and recycled accordingly.
You can see from the aerial photo that there is still a long way to go, but we are starting to get a better idea of the true size of our new site.
