It's almost two years since we announced our plans to build a new purpose-built Hospice and almost a year since we obtained planning permission on our new site in Bosham. Appointing contractors, Kier, is an exciting new development in the project, taking us a step closer to our DREAMBUILDING.
Chief Executive, Alison Moorey, said: “The Kier team has a strong track record in delivering projects and the Hospice team is very much looking forward to working with them.”
Trevor White, Operations Director for Kier Construction, Southern said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed to deliver the new hospice in Bosham and look forward to working with St Wilfrid’s Hospice throughout the project. We’ll bring our experience of working in the health and residential care sectors to deliver this high quality facility which is able to respond to the future changes of care and place the needs of staff, patients and their families at the forefront of the design.”
Since August, Wessex Demolitionand Salvage Ltd has been working through almost 3 acres of vegetation, removing rubbish and sorting this into piles which are being taken to the Woodhorn Group in Tangmere for recycling. The glass from each of the greenhouses is being removed by hand and metal frames taken apart by machine ready to be recycled at EMR in Portsmouth.
Many residents of Bosham are keeping a watchful eye for the moment when the old chimney will be taken down. Keep checking our website for footage of this event, when it occurs!
Clearance will continue until the end of November and, providing enough money has been raised, Kier will begin construction of the new St Wilfrid’s Hospice building in July 2017.
