In early January, Kay Mawer from the Clothkits shop in Chichester went to talk to the lovely ladies at the Chichester Embroiderers’ Guild about how she bought the original 1960s Clothkits business back to life after it was taken over by a large company and left to dwindle. At the end of her talk, which she titled ‘Mothkits to Clothkits’, she presented them with a similar challenge – to create beautiful stitched items from bags of scrap materials!
Without hesitation, and coordinated by Chichester Embroiderers’ Guild member, Sue Clarke, the ladies set straight to work using their incredible talent and creativity to produce an abundance of amazing pieces. They decided to donate all money raised to our DREAMBUILDING campaign, stating that ‘We all know someone who has benefited from the excellent care given by St Wilfrid’s Hospice and they are currently raising funds to build and equip the new Hospice at Bosham.’
On 29th April 2017 the ladies created a pop up boutique at the entrance to Draper's Yard which was brimming with beautiful handmade items, proving highly popular with all who passed, and selling out completely.
The final total raised by the Chichester Embroiderers’ Guild towards our DREAMBUILDING was an incredible £1,325! Thank you to everyone involved in this fantastic event.
