Denise Patterson said: “St Wilfrid’s is one of my ‘named charities’ during my year of office, chosen because I greatly admire the work they do. Most of us will know someone who has benefitted from the loving and professional end-of-life care and support the highly trained staff and volunteers provide, and indeed, I also have a more personal reason for supporting them – the wonderful care they gave my mother. I was delighted to be able to host the first event and officially launch the name of the capital campaign.”
Trustee of St Wilfrid’s and Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee, Lis Spence, said on the decision to choose the name DREAMBUILDING :“St Wilfrid’s Hospice has constantly had to change and develop as best it can on its current site to meet the growing and changing needs of the community; we desperately need more capacity which the existing site can no longer provide. We now have an opportunity to create a new St Wilfrid’s, one which addresses patient, relative, staff and volunteer needs with 21st Century facilities. We no longer need to be constrained by the limitations of the existing building, but may now build our dream building - we couldn’t think of a more fitting name!”
St Wilfrid’s Hospice announced in May that a full planning application had been submitted for a site identified in Bosham. The Hospice hopes to receive a positive decision by October.
