On 5th January, St Wilfrid’s Hospice launched its ‘DREAMBUILDING’ fundraising campaign, asking the local community to get behind them and help raise the remaining £4 million needed to create a new purpose-built Hospice in Bosham.
The local community has been quick to respond with offers to run all sorts of events, including an arts and crafts sale, bridge teas, readers’ events and even a dog show.
It’s not just the general public who have dug deep to support the creation of the new community Hospice. Following a meeting of the Cabinet on 7th March, Chichester District Council’s Grants and Concession’s Panel has chosen to award St Wilfrid’s Hospice with a grant of £50,000.
Chief Executive, Alison Moorey, said: “We are acutely aware that there are increasing financial pressures upon local Councils, therefore we are incredibly grateful to the cabinet for choosing to put their full support behind our project. This grant comes at a particularly fortuitous time and takes us just over our target of 80%, which we needed to reach before 31st March.”
